Dr. David Lamb is the MacRae Professor of Old Testament and in 2017 became the Dean of the Faculty at Missio Seminary. He is the author of God Behaving Badly: Is the God of the Old Testament Angry, Sexist and Racist. And more recently has written The Emotions of God: Making Sense of a God who hates, weeps, and loves. And Dr. Lamb spent twenty years on staff with InterVaristy and he loves to teach the Bible.

Session 3: Biblical Metaphors of Attachment: Shepherd-King and Family

with Dr. Beth Stovell

Dr. Beth M. Stovell is Professor of Old Testament and Chair of General Theological Studies at Ambrose Seminary in Calgary, Alberta (in Canada). Beth has written/co-written and edited/co-edited several books on the bible, biblical theology, and the use of metaphor. Beth’s work as a biblical theologian has also extended to drawing connections between the sciences and theological education, working with the Canadian Poverty Institute, and working on the national team for Vineyard Canada.

Session 4: The Goodness (Tov) of God amid the Abuse of Power

with Dr. Scot McKnight

Dr. Scot McKnight has been teaching the New Testament for more than four decades, and is the author of numerous books, including (with his daughter) A Church called Tov and Pivot, all about how the church can become good places again. His Community Called Atonement and King Jesus Gospel I regularly recommend to people. He has been married to Kris more than fifty years, and has two adult children and two grandchildren.

Cyd & Geoff Holsclaw — of Embodied Faith

Geoff (PhD) is a pastor, author of multiple books, and visiting professor of theology at Western Theological Seminary.

Cyd is an author, spiritual director, and pastor. She is also a trauma-informed, Jesus-centered, integrative coach (PCC) focused on embodied practices and building a secure attachment to God.

Together, they co-host the Attaching to God podcast, which offers a neuroscience-informed spiritual formation.

They are co-authors of Does God Really Like Me? Discovering the God Who Wants to Be With You, and a forthcoming book on attaching to God.
